This is a preliminary service estimate. Pipe insulation cost uses outside surface area = pi x OD (m) x length (m), multiplied by the provisional P50 insulation rate selected from the entered design temperature: 100C = Rs 4,578/m2, 200C = Rs 4,881/m2, 300C = Rs 5,082/m2, 400C = Rs 5,587/m2 and 500C = Rs 6,118/m2. Temperatures between approved points use linear interpolation; outside 100C to 500C remain Review. Pipe painting uses the same surface area for CS, LTCS and alloy-steel pipe: uninsulated piping uses Rs 1,010/m2 at the 65C default, while painting under insulation uses Rs 885/m2 from 65C to 200C and Rs 2,220/m2 from 300C to 500C. The 200C to 300C CUI rate is calculated by linear interpolation between Rs 885/m2 and Rs 2,220/m2. PWHT is calculated only when Piping Class / PMS Class, material and thickness match `nrl_pwht_rules`; it uses eligible welding inch-diameter and the applicable material-category rate. Pipe-support structural steel uses the parametric pipe support calculator and an all-inclusive adopted rate of Rs 1,50,000/MT, based on NRL LPP/WO references 4300080842, 4300083138, 4300083970 and 4300088266. The rate includes contractor-supplied structural steel, fabrication, welding, surface preparation, primer/painting, transportation, erection, bolting and alignment, measured on net fabricated weight. Civil cost for pipe support is separately added using the editable civil-support percentage of the pipe support structural cost. Approved IM and ID rate libraries are applied by detected material category to pipe, fitting and flange work. Rework/modification allowance uses the editable rework percentage of total eligible project welding ID and its matched welding cost. Valves use their calculated material-cost weight x BOM quantity x IOCL-ME-SOR rate: Rs 30.53/kg for valves other than RTJ and Rs 36.64/kg for RTJ valves. Unsupported rows stay marked Review. Actual weld quantities, site constraints, NDT scope, commissioning, taxes and commercial terms are excluded unless separately estimated.

Pipe Weight & Rate

Pipe mass formula: W = 0.0246615 x (OD - t) x t.

  • W = pipe mass in kg/m.
  • OD = actual outside diameter in mm from the built-in OD table.
  • t = wall thickness in mm from direct entry or the selected schedule.
  • Total weight = W x length in meter.
  • Pipe Rs/m = finished Rs/kg x pipe kg/m.

Example - 6 IN CS pipe, 7.11 mm wall: W = 0.0246615 x (168.3 - 7.11) x 7.11 = 28.26 kg/m. For 100 m, total weight = 2,826.00 kg.

Material Rate, Factors & P90

  • Raw material Rs/kg is selected from the material library for the chosen year and material standard.
  • Finished pipe Rs/kg = raw material Rs/kg x pipe estimate factor.
  • Normal total is the working estimate; P90 is the higher budget envelope.
  • Overrides replace the relevant default only and are recorded below when used.

Example - 6 IN CS pipe, 2026: raw material Rs 56.50/kg x normal pipe factor 1.80 = finished rate Rs 101.70/kg. x 28.26 kg/m = Rs 2,874.41/m.

Fittings, Gaskets & Strainers

  • 90 degree LR elbows, NPS 2 to 48: developed length = 2.356 x actual OD; elbow weight = pipe kg/m x developed length. CS factors: 2 IN = 5.00; above 2 to 4 IN = 3.50; above 4 to 20 IN = 2.50; above 20 to 26 IN = 2.80; above 26 to 48 IN = 3.20.
  • 45 degree elbows: use 50% of the matching 90 degree elbow physical weight. Unit price = 65% of the 90 degree elbow price for NPS 2 to 6 IN, and 60% for NPS 8 to 48 IN.
  • Equal tees: developed length = 2C + M - 0.5 x OD; tee weight = pipe kg/m x developed length. PO-derived factors: NPS 2 to 4 IN = 4.41; NPS 6 to 20 IN = 3.86; NPS 24 to 48 IN = 3.55.
  • Reducing tees: use approved unequal-tee C/M dimensions and the same PO-derived Equal Tee factor for the run size. If dimensions cannot produce a price, the readable run-size Equal Tee price is used and labelled Equal tee fallback.
  • Other fittings, gaskets and strainers continue to use the matching-pipe basis and approved component factor. Normal total = unit Rs x BOM quantity; P90 uses the active P90-to-normal ratio.

Example - 6 IN CS 90 degree LR elbow, STD: pipe mass = 28.26 kg/m; developed length = 2.356 x 168.3 mm = 0.3965 m; elbow weight = 11.21 kg. 11.21 kg x Rs 56.50/kg x factor 2.50 = Rs 1,582.98 per No.

Flange Weight Model

  • Recognised WN, SO and Blind flanges use the flange-weight-3-input-model-v2 JSON model.
  • Flange weight is matched by flange type, pressure rating, and nominal size.
  • Unit Rs = flange weight x material Rs/kg x P50 base multiplier x material multiplier.
  • Where a type-specific lookup is unavailable, the app records the WN fallback used or requests review.

Example - 6 IN WN flange, 150#, CS: JSON weight 10.60 kg x raw material Rs 56.50/kg x WN multiplier 3.70 = Rs 2,215.93 per No.

Valve Pricing Method

  • Gate valves use the built-in size-band weight equations and conversion factors.
  • Other recognised valve types use the approved ratio relative to the gate-valve base for the same size and rating.
  • Pressure class and material multiplier are applied where available.
  • Rows without a usable size, rating, material, or factor remain marked Review.

Example - 6 IN gate valve, 150#, CS: weight basis = 2.00 x 6 squared = 72.00 kg. 72.00 x Rs 56.50/kg x conversion factor 3.70 = Rs 15,058.80 per No.

Stud Bolt & Nut Set Method

  • Readable metric designations such as M30 x 200 use one fully threaded stud plus two heavy-hex nuts.
  • Mass uses standard coarse pitch, effective thread diameter, heavy-hex nut dimensions, and 7,850 kg/m3 density.
  • Unit Rs = complete set mass x material Rs/kg x commercial factor 2.50.
  • Unreadable bolt rows retain the existing review or fallback route; washers, coating and packing are excluded.

Example - M30 x 200 stud set: stud plus two heavy-hex nuts = 1.66 kg/set. 1.66 kg x Rs 56.50/kg x commercial factor 2.50 = Rs 234.88 per set.

Material Classification & BOM Review

  • Materials are classified using astm_piping_material_specification_webapp.json and its Basic Material of Construction logic.
  • BOM items are grouped as Pipe, Fitting, Flange, Valve, Bolt, Gasket, Trap/Strainer, or Other.
  • Only recognised rows with sufficient data receive a calculated rate.
  • Rows marked Review need a confirmed rate, missing data, or a management decision before reliance on the group total.

Example - material detection: a 6 IN item with ASTM A106 Gr.B is classified as Carbon Steel; ASTM A335 Gr.P5 is classified as Low & Intermediate Alloy Steel.

Coating & Scope

  • Coating applies to pipe values only: Yes means internal epoxy lining, external PE coating, or both.
  • Coating Yes factor = 2.30 normal / 3.80 P90; Coating No factor = 1.80 normal / 2.70 P90.
  • Material category, raw rate, factor, P90, and component pricing are indicative cost-estimation inputs.
  • Validate SS, alloy, duplex, non-ferrous, and commercial rates with supplier quotations.

Example - 6 IN pipe coating: the same pipe uses factor 1.80 when non-coated and 2.30 when coated. Coating changes pipe values only; it does not change fitting or valve factors.

Pipe, Fitting & Flange Service Cost

  • Pipe, Fitting and Flange rows use approved CS, SS or AS service rates by detected material category. Unclassified rows use the CS rate as a visible fallback.
  • Pipe erection cost = NPS x pipe length in metres x approved Rs/IM rate. Fittings and flanges have no separate erection IM in this first release.
  • Each pipe row is one run: base joints = ceiling(length / 6 m), then base joints x 1.60, always rounded upward. Fittings use connection ends: Tee = 3, Cap/Weldolet = 1, other fittings = 2 per No.
  • Each flange No. equals one estimated joint. Welding cost = estimated joints x NPS x approved Rs/ID rate, matched by location, IBR status, size and thickness.
  • Unsupported rate combinations are marked Review and excluded from the direct service total.

Examples - 6 IN, 60 m pipe: erection IM = 6 x 60 = 360 IM. Base joints = ceiling(60 / 6) = 10; estimated joints = ceiling(10 x 1.60) = 16 joints; welding quantity = 16 x 6 = 96 ID. 6 IN elbow, Qty. 4: 2 ends x 4 = 8 joints. 6 IN flange, Qty. 4: 1 joint x 4 = 4 joints. No escalation or contingency is added.
